Beware the Leaven

So my wife and I didn't make it to church tonight for bible study but we were able to watch the live broadcast online. While I was watching bible study, God spoke a word to my heart. I knew that I had to dump a lot of "leaven" that was lying around in my house, specifically in my binder and computer. I don't really want to talk details because God teaches not to be boastful so let's just say I need to start my music and movie collection over from scratch. Living a righteous life here, in this world, is difficult but God rewards diligence.

Anyway, while I was updating my status on facebook, I ran across this scripture:

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
- Hebrews 11:6

I need to make it a habit to read my Bible more.

Jesus warned of "the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees", which included their teaching and hypocrisy.
Mt 16:5-12; Lk 12:1

Jesus issued the warning, "Beware the leaven of Herod"
(Mark 8:15).

God and his Suddenly Moments

So the last time you guys heard from me, I had an interview set for Gamestop, and I was so sure that I would ge tthat job. Well as it turns out, I did not get that job, heck I didn't even get a second interview. I have learned however, to rejoice in God's "NO" because these rejections are meant to save you from future stressors and set backs.

So I did not get the job at Gamestop, well I happened to notice a sign in Blockbuster the week prior to my interview and it said they were conducting interviews the week after. To be more specific, it was the Tuesday after the Monday that I found out that I did not get the job at Gamestop. Now here I am, almost three weeks later, and I just finished up my third interview with Blockbuster for a shift lead position.

I plan on calling them back on Wednesday to see if I landed the job, and I am very confident that I did get the job. Now I'm just waiting to see if this is one of those "Suddenly blessings" that Pastor was talking about this past Sunday.

I know that God can suddenly change my entire situation around. I know that God can suddenly take me from rent to own. I know that 10-10-10 is fast approaching and I know that God can fulfill the desires of my heart. I just pray that I have learned what God set me here to learn because, God, I've got my shoes on, and I'm ready to run.
